Design doesn’t matter. Yet. But it can.
LPK’s Chief Creative Officer Nathan Hendricks argues that for all of the talk about design, designers and the creative economy, we are nowhere close to realizing the promise our craft holds to have a positive and galvanizing impact on the direction of culture. If we want design to garner serious respect, we need to start with an agreed-upon cultural role and a set of standards by which to practice.
Come see Nathan’s speech at Northern Kentucky University’s Otto M. Budig Theater this Thursday night, where he’ll share his take on a “Designer’s Code”– a way we can elevate our standards to inspire work that goes beyond revenue creation and is truly “of the people, by the people and for the people.”
