The Global BrightLight Foundation has partnered with the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership to provide solar-powered LED lanterns to underserved families in developing regions. The partnership will create the largest solar-powered lantern distribution by a non-governmental organization.
The two groups plan to distribute the lanterns to over 50,000 individuals and families in regions that have no access to electricity. Currently, 1.3 billion people across the globe lack electricity. The lanterns will provide better, healthier light for working and learning. Each lantern will also be equipped to power mobile devices in these regions that lack electricity.
