When we heard about a group of industrial design students from the University of Cincinnati using footwear design as a vehicle to empower high school students, we knew there was much to be learned from their inspiring vision. The Tread Project focuses on design as a way to teach critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. The seven-week studio course kicked off in April at Hughes High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and brought in guest presenters from footwear brands including Nike, Adidas, Reebok and Toms.
